5 movies to watch this Easter weekend

From Mel Gibson's "Passion of the Christ" to "Son of God," check out five movies/TV series you can watch this Easter season.

Easter weekend is here and while there are not a lot of films celebrating the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, there are still numerous related titles for Christians this season.

From Mel Gibson's "Passion of the Christ" to "Son of God," check out five movies to watch this Easter season.
 1. "Passion of the Christ"
A 2004 American biblical epic drama film directed by Mel Gibson, the movie depicts the Passion of Jesus according to the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.
The film covers the final twelve hours of Jesus' life, beginning with the Agony in the Garden of Gethsemane, the insomnia and grievance of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and ending with a depiction of his resurrection.
 2. Risen
"Risen" is the epic biblical story of the Resurrection of Jesus, told through the eyes of a non-believer.
Clavius, a powerful Roman Military Tribune, and his aide Lucius, are tasked with solving the mystery of what happened to Jesus in the weeks following the crucifixion, in order to disprove the rumors of a risen Messiah and prevent an uprising in Jerusalem.

3. "The Young Pope"

A TV series for the season. It's not your typical religious drama for an Easter season, but it's deeper than it seems.
The series follows the beginning of the pontificate of Lenny Belardo, alias Pius XIII, the first American Pope in history.
