Tekno Nobody is listening, but singer is telling the greatest Nigerian love story ever

Do you know Tekno has been trying to talk to you for the past two years, and you haven’t listened? And you call yourself a fan?
When Tekno loves, he does it with his body, soul, spirit and music. In the past three years, the man has moved from being a rising artist with talent, to a pop king, who is booked all year round, has a zillion dollars streaming into his pocket, and the most beautiful of women around him.
But life is funny. Tekno for all his braggadocio and happy-go-lucky exterior is a fool in love. The young man is a hopeless romantic, who cannot contain his love for a special woman. And his music reveals it.
We Nigerians are a shallow bunch. We accept stuff at face value, listen to the music like its just fluff; half-mindedly allowing it play from our devices, while we focus on capturing the beat with our super dance moves.
And we can’t really be blamed. Our artists have failed us again and again. They’ve constantly given us very cheap music, with very little or no symbolism to make it hold weight. Sometimes, there’s no meaning at all. It’s just a mindless drone, arranged together for a quick hit.
But not Tekno. Tekno is a jewel. And while we may all be chasing the infectious sound of his melody, and looking out for his corny but delightfully silly lyrics, we have all failed to understand that the singer is telling us one of the greatest love stories to ever come out of Nigeria.
And trust me, if we can truly decipher the full scale of it, and all the specific characters in the story, then we can have something to rival 2face and Annie Idibia, Wizkid and Tania, Tiwa Savage and TeeBillz. Heck, maybe we might just have something to rival the love between Odumegwu Ojukwu and Bianca.
But Tekno is a shy man when he isn’t in character as an entertainer, and he prefers to keep things a little mysterious. The only way he communicates is via his music. And we have slightly deciphered it.
You’re welcome.

“See na love I dey see for your eyes
I love you baby, I no think am twice
Your beauty makes me to realize
Say Nepa no bring light”
He fell in love at first sight. Tekno is screaming at everyone that he just found a new girlfriend. ‘Duro’, the Yoruba word for ‘wait’, is him telling the girl to pause her world and become his bride.
The story opens here. Tekno has finally found his love, and we are dancing to the rhythm of his love. He likens her to ‘Uche’, (Uche Jumbo? No.) There’s also the offering of children, the specter of marriage and everything.
Tekno is that direct Nigerian man that goes all in and promises marriage when he meets a lady.

"My love is beautiful
My love is wonderful
My love is colorful
My love, my belle-full
My love is, bank-alert
My love is, Fura de Nunu
My love is, Karatey combo
My love is, coming from Congo
You like, you Gongo A'so
Baby girl, I'm nice"
The girl finally gave in to Tekno’s love, and the relationship is on. Turns out there’s so much romance in the soul of the young man, who proceeds to hammer her with his lyrics. The love originates from Congo, hits the lady like a Karate combo, fills up her stomach, and lights her world with column.
There’s a nice feeling up here, and everyone sleeps easy at night. The sex is good, the kisses are good, and the beds are rosy. This love is like a movie.
Tekno – ‘Where’ Tekno – ‘Where’

“I say, if na dollar
Mallam can't change it, eeh-eh "Can't change it"
Mathematics can't solve it, eeh-eh "Can't solve it"
Sniper cannot shoot it, eeh-eh "eeh-eh"
But the, DJ can slam it
So that, me and you can dance it oh, eh "I love you, baby"
The love is still waxing strong. The girl gives Tekno fruity love, the sex has begun, and every time she kills him with the greatest bed moves, and it boosts him. There’s happiness everywhere, trumpets are played, and celebrity friends are called. Left to Tekno, he would be a married man at this point, solving romantic mathematics and defying Mallams.
Tekno Pana Tekno Pana
“Baby, Pana
They say you like wahala oh
Eh, I getti wahala oh
Baby, Pana
Anywhere that you go
I go follow you dey go
Baby, Pana
They say you like cassava
I getti big cassava
Baby, Pana
My love for you will never die, will never die”
This is the height of it. Although you might not be aware of it, this song was made during a love-making session (Baby pana!). All of the emotions are raw, the lyrics are sensual, the feeling is deep, and everyone can connect.
Tekno rips out his Cassava, and gives the girl Wahala. He is still in the marriage phase, begging her to follow him to the altar. (“for your sake I go go church oh”).
The universal and pure influence of passionate sex makes this an instant hit. It is his biggest song until date, with US based Columbia records putting their weight behind it. It doesn’t get better than this.

“What I feel in my heart is true
What you see in my eyes bu ezeokwu
Jejeli, baby, I have fallen for you
In the head, to my heart and body .. heart and body”
Tekno needs to do the needful. Marry this woman ASAP. This is love at its finest. This is the stuff people die for. This is eternity right here.

Forget about the big things oh
Say make we talk about the small things oh
Eh! Aye-aye oh, Aye o pe meji oh
Forget about the big things oh
Say make we talk about the small things oh, yeaah
Aye-aye oh, aye o pe meji oh”
After the rollercoaster of ‘Pana’, there’s a break in transmission, The lovers unhook themselves, the love grows cold, and Tekno begins to look elsewhere. The recession in Nigeria catches his eyes, and for a brief second, he becomes conscious. Throwing all of his talent towards a greater cause.
The cracks have begun to appear. Where is Diana? Where is the queen of his heart? Where is the loverboy Tekno? What happened to all that love?
Tekno - Yawa Tekno - Yawa

“If you leave me yawa go dey (see gobe)
Baby Yawa go dey
Baby if you leave me yawa go dey (see gobe)
Baby yawa go dey oh
Only you go chop belle full (ajeh)
I no go play you for a fool (ajeh)
No be april fool (ajeh)
This is how I used to do (ajeh)
Only you go chop belle full (ajeh)
No be April fool (ajeh)
Cassava for two (ajeh)
Baby all for you (ajeh)”
With the enjoyment of December, and the loss of focus, Tekno cheated on his lover. And guess what? She dumped his heart. The big star has a lot of women throwing themselves at him, and he finally succumbed to all that attention, and cheated.
His lover abandoned him, and he is heartbroken. But not before dropping a jam.
The moral of the story here is that Tekno’s love story has been told, one woman at a time, and we all failed to pay attention. We need to do better. You need to do better.
