Shonda Rhimes is creating a"Grey's Anatomy" series about a group of heroic firefighters and this is everything you need to know.
Four years after "Private Practise," a new "Grey's Anatomy" spin-off series is in the works at ABC.
The series which is about firefighters will be scripted by Stacy McKee, who will also serve as an executive producer alongside Shonda Rhimes and Betsy Beers.
Set in Seattle, the
firefighter series will focus on brave men and women as they risk their
lives and their hearts both in the line of duty and off the clock.
This marks the second spin-off of the medical drama. The first was "Private Practise," which followed Addison Montgomery's move from Seattle to Los Angeles to help run a private medical practice.
"Private Practise" ended in 2013, after six seasons.
The spin-off series
which debuts in 2018, is most likely to launch out of an episode of
"Grey's Anatomy" this season - the "Grey's Anatomy" season 13 finale is
set to feature an explosion at the hospital.
There's also the possibility of a crossover by characters from the medical series to the firefighter series.
